John Fisher – Patronage Secretary

John FisherJohn is extremely partial to the letter 'p', as his three main passions are pictures, plants and people.

His love of painted art and picture framing are revealed in being a self-confessed fan of Sister Wendy Beckett and his regular visits to art galleries. When John's able to drag himself away from art during his spare time, he grows vegetables, chops down trees and used to be into orchids.

The garden is very important to John as a place of peace and creation, especially as he sees many parallels between nurturing nature and the gospel. While he admits to talking to plants, John also delights in talking to people and developing gospel work with clergy and churches.

Kathy Burch – PA to the Patronage Secretary

Kathy BurchTeaching assistant. Bookshop manager. Vicar's wife. Part-time musician (well, Sunday mornings at least). Welcome to the kaleidoscope that is Kathy.

She has indeed had a life full of variety. Even on its own, 24 years married to a parish vicar in a range of rural and urban locations has provided a breadth and depth of different experiences.

That comes in handy when you're dealing with the not-so-insignificant administrative task that comes with co-ordinating the recruitment for approximately 50 church vacancies at any one time. Becoming increasingly like a living and breathing encyclopaedia of churches and vicars, Kathy – aka 'the walking Crockfords' – is more than equipped to help.

John Coyne - Patronage Leadership Specialist

John CoyneWe're delighted that John Coyne has recently joined CPAS as our Patronage Leadership Specialist. This new role has been created in response to two needs:

The growing number of vacancies due to a shortage of clergy.

Our vision to better support and equip our 450+ patronage incumbents.

John will be visiting vacant parishes at various stages in the appointment process, offering advice to parish reps and PCCs and interviewing candidates. He will also be developing new training resources for parish reps and a vocational tool for clergy, as well as delivering training events for patronage vicars.

John had been rector of Aldridge since 2012. Before this, he held a previous role at CPAS as the Director of Local and Regional Delivery.
