Training events will allow you to explore the value of Christian mentoring and be introduced to the resource material.
The day helps churches to set up a mentoring network. There are four sessions:
- Session 1 - Explores why mentoring is needed today, offers a definition of Christian mentoring and explains how mentoring differs from other helping roles.
- Session 2 - Offers a framework for a mentoring relationship (five distinct phases) and a model for a mentoring session (including the theory behind the seven core mentoring skills).
- Sessions 3-4 - Identify five stages to setting up a mentoring network in a church, and identifies the qualities to look for in a potential mentor. They also include some of the exercises from the Mentoring Matters resource as examples of how the material works.
These events are suitable for vicars, curates, youth leaders, and anyone else who might be interested in setting up a mentoring scheme.
The fee for attending a Mentoring Matters event is £28 (including materials and refreshments), and £22 for each additional person from the same church. For the discount to apply, you will need to make a group booking.
The Mentoring Matters pack is available to buy at training events (along with other resources), with a 10% discount.
