Urgent message
‘With falling numbers of people in our churches, many people consider growth to be an impossible mission...
‘However, with effective, mission-focused lay and ordained leadership in local churches across the country, we can see more men, women and children discover the good news of Jesus.’ – John Dunnett, CPAS general director.
A new CPAS initiative beginning this autumn, Making Mission Possible, is taking leadership development to the entire country.
Explore the themes for these nationwide events on the website – www.makingmissionpossible.org.uk. You can search for events taking place in your area, sign up for email bulletins with the latest information, and enter the prize draw to win an iPad.

Reviewing leadership
‘Amid the huge number of books on leadership published in recent years, how does one evaluate all the different approaches from a Christian perspective?’
Each month, Rosie Ward, CPAS leadership development adviser, reviews a book of interest to women leaders. This month’s Book of the Month is: Reviewing Leadership: A Christian evaluation of current approaches by Robert Banks and Bernice M Ledbetter.
Rosie says: ‘The book begins by exploring reasons for the interest in leadership today. Here, as throughout the book, the authors take a step back and ask questions which are not always being asked elsewhere.’
She concludes: ‘Banks and Ledbetter allude to a large number of ideas and authors – obviously the focus of such a book, and I found it informative and thought-provoking.’
