Dear [salutation]
'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.' John 8:12, TNIV
You may recall a recent letter from me, asking you to support our work developing leaders for mission. In that letter, I mentioned how much I enjoy visiting churches and meeting people – of all ages and from all walks of life – who have discovered Jesus’ wonderful promise to bring them from darkness into his glorious light.
Here at CPAS, our passion is to equip and enable churches of all sizes and traditions to help more people find God.
We’ve been doing this since 1836 when we were founded to enable leadership in evangelical parishes through the provision of grants. Nearly two centuries later, our current vision focuses upon developing lay and ordained leaders so that local churches may be gospel-centred and mission-effective.
Together we can help men, women and children throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland discover the light of Jesus.

Leadership development from CPAS makes a profound difference on lay and ordained, paid and volunteer leaders across the country – people who, in turn, lead others to Christ.
Chris Duffett (pictured), a graduate of the CPAS Arrow Leadership Programme, said:
'Since Arrow I have a new dynamic in the evangelism I do, engaging with others in creative street evangelism projects as well as praying for healing for those I meet.'
The Rt Rev Andrew Watson, Bishop of Aston, is also an Arrow graduate:
'Arrow gave me a renewed passion for evangelism, a growing self-awareness and a proper confidence in my calling as a missional leader: crucial gifts at the time, which have continued to shape my ministry ever since.'
Alicia Petty was a participant on The Buck Stops Here before her first parish post:
'By adding a few simple opportunities [at the annual flower festival], such as prayer ribbons and a listening tent, this festival has been transformed into a chance to speak the truth of the gospel.'
CPAS needs your support in order to continue this essential mission ministry of developing Christ-like leaders who will reach out to the lost with the good news of Jesus:
- The CPAS Growing Leaders and Growing Leaders – Youth Edition courses have already been used by over 700 churches. Thousands of men, women and young people with leadership responsibilities have been developed for a life-time of mission.
- We’ve also been developing the volunteer leaders of CPAS Falcon Camps and Venture holidays, enabling them to be more effective in helping thousands of children and young people meet Jesus Christ, get to know him better and in turn lead others to him.
- Another new initiative is lifecall. These one-day vocation events for 16-25 year olds are designed to support and encourage young people in exploring God’s call on their lives, and are part of our critical work inspiring more under-30s to offer themselves for ordination.
- And not forgetting Making Mission Possible, a programme of events which sees us equipping and training lay and ordained leaders across the country to be more effective in Christ-like leadership.
Please give £30 – or whatever you can – by making an online donation to CPAS today, so that together we can help more men, women and children in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland discover the good news of Jesus.
Yours in the light of Christ,

John Dunnett
