Support CPAS this Christmas
In this age of uncertainty and confusion the Church needs to be a beacon of hope and truth – perhaps more than ever before – radiating the light of Christ in local communities across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Your support can help us partner with local churches to help more men, women and young people come to faith and grow in their biblical understanding of how to 'shine like stars' for Jesus.
Read how Tim, an assistant vicar and Jane, a children's minister have used CPAS resources and programmes to impact those around them.
Please donate online today at www.cpas.org.uk/shine and help more leaders to 'go and make disciples'. Thank you.
Ventures bookings open today!
The wait is over! Bookings for Ventures in 2012 open today, and we've got around 90 action-packed, fun-filled, life-changing holidays to choose from.
If you know someone aged 8-18 who would benefit from a Christian holiday (or someone older who'd like to be a leader), we'd love them tovisit our website and find out more.
We're pleased to announce that the Rev John Fisher has been appointed as our new patronage secretary. John will be involved in appointing new clergy to CPAS patronage churches, which stretch from St Silas in Glasgow to Landewednack in Cornwall.
'It's a wonderful privilege to work alongside clergy, parishes and dioceses across the UK, exploring what is the right path and discerning the call of God for local churches,' said John. 'The overall ethos of CPAS means we are very keen to appoint leaders with a vision to grow Bible-based, gospel-centred churches fit for mission.'
CPAS is the UK's leading evangelical patron, with responsibility for over 500 parishes, covering every English diocese. See patronage churches in your area on our patronage map.
'Best leadership conference in a decade'
Last month more than 70 leaders of larger churches gathered for a CPAS-supported conference at High Leigh in Hertfordshire.
The Rev Canon Malcolm Round, rector of the Edinburgh church of St Mungo's, Balerno, described the National Larger Anglican Churches Consultation (NLACC) as 'the best leadership conference I've been to in a decade.'
The theme of the consultation was 'For the sake of the gospel'. Read more ...
Mentoring Matters training
The first Mentoring Matters training day took place in Warwick last month, giving lay and ordained leaders the chance to explore the value of Christian mentoring and be introduced to the Mentoring Matters resource material.
One participant said: 'I now feel empowered to move forward with mentoring. I'm going to share with my church how we might set up a mentoring programme.'
The next Mentoring Matters training day will be in Poole on 25 February. Confirmed dates for other training days in 2012 will be appearing on our website in the next few weeks.
