Praise be!

This summer we welcomed almost 4,000 children and young people on 90 Ventures and Falcon Camps across England and Wales.

Here’s a flavour of what they learned and the things they loved, in their own words:

‘That Jesus has set a pathway between God and us so that we might have FREEDOM!’ (Evie, 15)

‘The buzz groups, where we talked about how to continue being a Christian outside of camp’ (Andrew, 17)

‘I learnt that God wants to be my friend.’  (Daniel, 11)

‘The Venture honestly feels like my second family. I feel so loved, happy and amazing here. It has changed my life for the better and helped me get closer to God.’ (Ella, 13)

‘I will never forget the Bible studies that helped me to stop and think about how wonderful Jesus is.’ (Naomi, 11)

Posters for churches

Help us promote CPAS in your church with a set of new A4 posters. Whether your church already supports us financially or not, we’d really appreciate your help to share the work that God has called us to with more people.

We’ve produced a poster explaining our mission of enabling churches to help every person hear and discover the good news of Jesus, and four other posters illustrating our leadership development training, clergy appointments and Ventures and Falcon Camps.

Visit www.cpas.org.uk/promote to order posters for your church today.

Donít Lose Heart

The latest addition to the Grove Leadership Series, written by Graham Archer, director of ministry at CPAS, is called Don’t Lose Heart.

Graham writes about how maintaining good morale can be a particular challenge for Christian leaders, exploring the theme of morale both in 2 Corinthians and in the experience of 21st century church leaders, and sets out a series of practical insights from St Paul that can help leaders stay positive, motivated and in good heart.

Buy Graham’s book and view the rest of the Grove series at www.cpas.org.uk/grove.

Events this autumn

We’re running several events this autumn to help equip all kinds of leaders for mission, including:

The Buck Stops Here (Sheffield, 7-9 October) – equipping first-time incumbents for their new roles and responsibilities.

You and Ministry (Leicester, 7-9 November) – a weekend for men and women exploring a vocation for authorised ministry in the Church of England.

Mentoring Matters (Fareham, 22 November) – introducing our resources which help churches nurture disciples and develop leaders by setting up mentoring networks.

Visit www.cpas.org.uk/events for the current list of CPAS events.

Youth Work Awards

This year’s Christian Youth Work Awards are nearly upon us, with nominations closing tomorrow (Friday 19 September). We’re sponsoring the Volunteer of the Year category again, so there’s still just enough time to nominate youth workers who give their time freely to serve young people.

We know the massive impact these individuals (including the 3,000+ volunteers on Ventures and Falcon Camps each year) have on the young people they work with.

Nominate an amazing youth worker at www.youthworkawards.co.uk.
