making disciples, developing leaders, growing churches

CPAS enables churches to help every person hear and discover the good news of Jesus

Beth

Beth, aged 15 from Leeds, took part in the CPAS Growing Leaders – Youth Edition course.

'I did the course because I wanted to become more involved as a worship leader and wanted to be ready for the challenges that might bring. I wanted to go deeper into what it meant and what it took to be a leader; both in Church and faith and in life in general. It taught me loads of tangible facts about leadership and linked it well to Jesus and his life and the Bible. It also made me realise several different aspects of leadership that I had never really thought about before: that there are different types of leader, about the skills needed for different situations, and how to use God-given skills to the best advantage.

'It also showed loads of examples from the Bible which was helpful because they were real people. I liked how they weren't all men as well – not being sexist or anything! But sometimes in the Bible it can be very male-focused, because obviously it was a patriarchal society, but anyway I just found it nice and helpful and inspiring that women were included on the course as well. It gave me a chance to make new friends and learn more about the gifts that I have and how I can use them to honour God in leadership.'
