Perrott Hill Falcon Camp
Doing things together is a big priority at Perrott Hill Falcon Camp. Overall leader Adrian Foster tells us more about working together and getting the children actively involved
'As leaders, working and growing together starts with us, as we draw on the strengths and gifts of each person in the team and model this to the young people. This year, we made a giant cross out of smaller lollypop stick crosses each child and leader has made, to show that we are stronger together in Christ.
'We found getting the children actively involved like this really helps them to engage with the Christian teaching. We told Jesus' parables with different children playing the roles of the different characters and gave them pictures to accompany the stories, and throughout the week we sung "Lord I lift your name on high". The children really caught on to it, learnt the words and were really enjoying participating rather than just listening.
'The highlight for me was one night towards the end of the week, when nearly all of the children responded when we invited them to give their lives to Jesus.
'Seeing the children doing things together and showing love to each other was really moving. I overheard one boy saying to another child who had lost something "it's ok, you can have mine", and was surprised and delighted to see that two boys who hadn't got on with each other last year were now the best of friends!'
