'Vacancies are not problems, but opportunities.' So says Bob Jackson, author of a new resource to help churches thrive during a vacancy.
Growing Through a Vacancy is based on research among churches in vacancy from across all traditions, and identifies 15 keys to growing through a vacancy period.
Developed by a partnership of five organisations (Birmingham Diocese, St John's Centre for Church Growth, CPAS, Lichfield Diocese, The Saltley Trust), the resource consists of two parts:
- A handbook to guide clergy and church wardens through a vacancy.
- A leaflet for PCC members with a digest of the key insights.
- If you have already have the handbook, there is a variety of supplementary online material which you can download from here.
