Leading Edge sharpens up with new topics

Three new topics are now being covered by the successful Leading Edge local forums.

New events have been added to cover Building Teams, Leadership and Mission in a Multi-Church Benefice and Missional Leadership. There are also plenty more forums on Discerning Direction and Enabling Action as well, so you won’t be short of options to choose from.

Find out more about Leading Edge and the different events available.

To search for events by location please go to the Making Mission Possible website.

Helping you Make Mission Possible

There are several significant events on the horizon as part of our Making Mission Possible programme of events to develop leaders for the task of mission.

lifecall is an informal day for young people aged 16-25 who are exploring God’s call on their life. The next event is in Bristol on 19 March at a cost of just £10, so please tell anybody you know who might be interested.

We’re also looking forward to training more leaders to join the hundreds of churches running the Growing Leaders and Growing Leaders – Youth Edition courses all over the country. Book your place to join us at events in WarwickWinchester and Tonbridge.

In order to help develop the leaders of youth and children’s ministries, leadership development adviser Andy Castle is running an event called Growing Young People in the Church in Richmond on 26 March.

'Fun! Fun Fun!'

... is how one enthusiastic young person described their week on a Venture holiday last summer.

Victoria, who went on the Ripon 2 Venture, agrees: 'The best thing about going on a Venture is the atmosphere ... even if you arrive on your own, everyone is inclusive and welcoming'.

If you know someone aged 8-18 who would enjoy a fun, safe and life-changing holiday, why not visit the Ventures website to book a place, watch videos or order a brochure and free DVD.

'Giggles galore!'

This was youth worker Esther Bacon's description of her experience of taking a group of young people from rural Oxfordshire on a Venture holiday for the first time.

Esther found the sense of community on the Canal Cruise Venture was invaluable as the young people in her group 'live out in the sticks so meeting other Christian young people is quite difficult'.

If you would like to bring a group of young people on a Venture in 2011, please visit the Ventures website to find out more.

Tweenagers and the Church

How can we minister to those who have outgrown children’s ministry but are too young for fully-fledged youth ministry?

Ruth Hassall gives reflections and practical insights into how we can disciple and grow the young people aged 8-13 in our churches in the latest youth leader training article, and is joined by Andy Castle for our recent podcast on tweenagers.

Leadership Insights podcast: Bishop Harold Miller

Harold Miller, Bishop of Down and Dromore, enthuses about formation, transformation, personal vulnerability - and the vital importance of 'down time'.
