A Lenten Journey with Church Leadership

Lent is traditionally a time for giving things up; making a sacrifice as we reflect on the sacrificial love of Jesus and consider how we can live as his disciples.

In issue 73 of Church Leadership, the Rev Ian Adams uses five food-related events to take us through a Lenten journey, helping us to focus on Christ and challenging us to walk more closely with him.

Making Mission Possible for 175 years

In 1836, our founder’s vision was to ‘take the gospel to every person’s door’. As we celebrate our 175th anniversary, all that we do is still geared up to helping churches reach out into local communities with the good news of Jesus.

Over the coming weeks we’re holding a number of events about developing leadership in local churches, enabling churches to equip men, women and young people to grow in Christ-like character and be confident about God’s call on their lives.

Find out more about Growing Leaders events in Winchester on 19 March and Tonbridge on 2 April, or search for other Making Mission Possible events in your local area.

Staying Fresh, Staying Faithful

Over 60 clergy and other leaders descended on the CPAS headquarters in Warwick last month for a day with international best-selling author Gordon MacDonald entitled ‘Staying Fresh, Staying Faithful’.

Exploring your call

Many people are searching for God’s plan for their life and wondering if they are being called to full-time ministry.

Through You and Ministry events and lifecall for younger people, CPAS can help people understand and explore their calling and consider what the next step should be.

Upcoming events include a one-day You and Ministry event in Aberystwyth and a lifecall day in Bristol.

Thriving in youth ministry

Full-time youth ministry can be very demanding. Lots of time and energy is spent encouraging, engaging with and discipling others in their faith while our own souls are often left malnourished.

Two new CPAS events are designed to help. Pitstop is for any in full-time youth ministry and Thrive is for those in their first year as a youth minister.

Pitstop offers a chance to find space and like-minded people to engage with in critical thinking, have time to reflect, and to receive some input yourself. The first of these 48-hour retreats takes place on Monday 23 May – Wednesday 25 May.

Thrive provides time towards the end of your first year to reflect on your experience as a youth minister so far, and to equip and recharge you for what lies ahead. The first of these events takes place on Monday 20 June – Wednesday 22 June.
