Exploring Biblical Leadership (Sale - 3 events)

The literature on leadership in Christian bookshops, on church shelves and in vicarage studies is now voluminous. Most of it is very helpful - and much could even be said to be transformative. However, the vast majority of this material does not focus directly on Scriptural study - even if the principles explored could be rightly described as biblical.
These three days are designed to help Christian leaders 'dig deep' into Scripture in order to inform, shape and inspire their leadership - whether as a church leader or in a secular context. It is suitable for clergy and significant lay leaders (e.g. staff, wardens, licensed people and ministry team leaders). Come with your Bible - prepared to engage with Scripture and to be fed, challenged, encouraged and inspired.
Each of the three days will be led by John Dunnett from 10am-3.30pm (refreshments from 9.45am, please bring your own lunch). The fee for attending all three events is £75 for the first person and £40 for each additional member of your group.
19 June 2019: The Biblical Anatomy of Leadership
This is a day to immerse yourself in a study of biblical leadership. We will examine the experience of some of the best known leaders in Scripture, explore the rich vocabulary used in the New Testament to describe the calling and role of leaders, and identify where our leadership so often falls short of biblical standards.
30 Oct 2019: Nurturing - Biblical Style
The challenge to make disciples and grow leaders is core to the business of being a local church. Scripture has many examples of how this nurturing should take place within the kingdom of God. This day will explore a number of these biblical examples and offer tools to enable the biblical principles to be applied effectively in the nurture of others.
4 March 2020: Leading Against the Odds
Given the gap that is emerging between prevailing culture, narratives and the demise of Christendom, it is no wonder that many church leaders are beginning to feel as though they are ministering in a kind of quasi exile. This event will examine the leadership experience of Daniel and others biblical characters to identify what is involved in witnessing and leading in a context that is either ambivalent or even hostile to the gospel.
It is also possible to attend any of the above as standalone events via the CPAS events calendar.
