Making Mission Possible

CPAS enables churches to help every person hear and discover the good news of Jesus

Serena Willoughby

At St George's, Weald, near Sevenoaks, the discipleship and mission of the whole church is being impacted by what vicar Serena Willoughby learned on the CPAS Arrow Leadership Programme.

Serena Willoughby'Arrow refreshed my call to mission and put it back at the top of the list. I was really struck by the passion for mission which underpins every module. It's inspired me to get out there and be intentional in using the opportunities I have, and encourage the congregation to do the same.

'Having children at the local school gives me a great opportunity to share Jesus' love with other families, with a weekly event at church after the school run. We've also started doing Messy Church, where more people can explore the Bible in fun and creative ways.

'The whole-person approach of Arrow was very beneficial, and I particularly valued what I learned about our relationship with God needing to be the basis for everything. Our ministry flows out of becoming the people God created us to be, and I'm now praying for deeper discipleship at St George's, for Jesus to influence everything in people's lives and for this to filter out through the village.'
