Vicar

St John's and St Matthew's South Hornchurch

Diocese of Chelmsford

We’re a single church with a big heart for reaching people who need to receive the saving message of Jesus. Located to the South of Hornchurch, we are an open evangelical and charismatic church in character and heritage.

St Johns Church places a strong emphasis on supporting the spiritual growth and development of the church family by learning how we can trust God more in living our lives with Him through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We are a community of Christians, offering support and respite to those struggling with homelessness and/or addiction through the relationship we have with the local AA/CA groups.

We're praying for someone who is:

  • A visionary leader with a desire to share the love of Jesus

  • Has a compassionate heart for the isolated, the lonely, and the struggling

  • Spirit-filled, prayerful and rooted in Scripture

  • Relational, approachable, and able to connect with all

  • Creative, adaptable and resilient in a fast-changing community

In return you'll find:

  • A committed congregation
  • Capable lay leadership
  • Administrative support
  • A large four-bedroom Vicarage
