Vicar & Rector

Holy Trinity & St Catherine's, Ventnor (Vicar) & Bonchurch (Rector)

Diocese of Portsmouth

Our three churches and their parishes seek a caring, experienced and enthusiastic priest to join us in the wonderful setting of a quirky seaside town and a thriving village community on the south coast of the beautiful Isle of Wight.

What we offer:

  • Three distinctive parish churches with rich histories and strong local identities.
  • Congregations who are welcoming, supportive, and keen to grow in faith and community life.
  • A committed Ministry Team, including Lay Ministers, with enthusiastic churchwardens and church musicians.
  • A stunning coastal setting, rich in natural beauty.
  • Plenty of opportunities for fresh mission, especially in work with families, schools, and local groups.
  • Good relationships with community organisations.
  • A comfortable vicarage in a great location.

Who we're looking for:

  • A priest with a breadth of experience of parish ministry, confident in preaching, and warm in pastoral care.
  • A confident leader of sacramental worship, experienced in diverse forms of liturgy.
  • Someone who enjoys spending time with people and offering kind, steady support - a team player who likes working with others and encouraging their gifts.
  • Someone with fresh ideas for helping our churches grow and connect with the wider community.
  • A priest who will delight in Island life and want to be a part of our everyday world.

Come and join us! If you want the chance to make a real difference in a beautiful place with warm-hearted people, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply, or Find Out More

Please contact the Ven Barry Dugmore, Archdeacon of the Isle of Wight, to discuss this role and to express an interest in applying for it.

The Diocese of Portsmouth is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of United Kingdom Minority Ethnic/Global Majority Heritage, women and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation. The appointment will of course be based on merit alone. Enhanced DBS will be required.
