Bishop Andrew Watson

Bishop Andrew Watson - webpage.pngWe are deeply saddened to hear of the death of The Rt Rev Andrew Watson, Bishop of Guildford.

Bishop Andrew served as vicar of a CPAS parish in St Stephen's Twickenham, as Chair of CPAS Trustees, and most recently as our President. We give heartfelt thanks for his life and ministry, for his faithful proclamation of the gospel, and for the wisdom, humility and generosity with which he led and served. His unwavering support of CPAS and his deep commitment to seeing churches thrive and leaders flourish have left a lasting legacy.

Our prayers are especially with his wife, Beverly, their children and wider family, and with the Diocese of Guildford at this time of profound loss. We thank God for Andrew’s life, and we commend him into the everlasting arms of our gracious Saviour, in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection.

In recent weeks, Andrew’s courageous and hope-filled witness in the face of death - cheerfully persisting, in his own words, towards 'a good death' - spoke powerfully of his deep trust in the Lord he loved and served. Even as he prepared to be called home, his faith in the resurrection and the life everlasting shone brightly.
