Leading Well: A Five-Session Online Leadership Course (2024-25)

Looking to develop in your leadership? Wanting to explore how to lead a church in mission? Longing for a place to explore questions and concerns in a safe environment?

Leading well as an incumbent is both stimulating and demanding, particularly during the early years of an incumbency. This course is aimed primarily at those who want to grow in their core leadership skills, including:

  • What is distinctive about Christian leadership, and how does this practically shape our priorities and style as a leader?
  • What does a missional and collaborative culture look like, and what is our role in enabling this?
  • How do we facilitate change in a way that enables churches to flourish rather than fragment?
  • How do we establish healthy rhythms of ‘work and rest’ that are life-giving and keep us fresh and focused?

‘An opportunity not to be missed to explore healthy leadership and positive spiritual self-care with fellow church leaders that is informative, encouraging and challenging.‘

Building on our extensive experience of running leadership courses in dioceses over many years, we’re delighted to make this training accessible across the UK and Ireland.

Who is it for: incumbents of Anglican churches in the UK and Ireland.

When: a day (9.45am-4pm) a month from September 2024 to February 2025:

  • Session 1 Tuesday 24 September 2024.
  • Session 2 Tuesday 22 October 2024.
  • Session 3 Tuesday 26 November 2024.
  • Session 4 Tuesday 21 January 2025.
  • Session 5 Tuesday 25 February 2025.

Commitment: signing up for this course indicates commitment to attending all five sessions in their entirety, and to around 30 minutes preparation ahead of each session. If you are unable to make this commitment this time round please sign up for a later course.

Where: sessions will be held on Zoom – we know a whole day on Zoom doesn’t sound great, but we have worked hard on how to engage people well on Zoom throughout a day, and are confident you will find it a positive experience.

‘The course was very well planned, very well prepared and very well delivered.’

Cost: £200. Most clergy will have access to a Continuing Ministerial Education grant from their diocese. You may wish contact your diocese to see if one is available to help you cover the cost of this course.

Numbers are limited to enable maximum interaction within the group, so early booking is advised to secure your place.

Bookings will close on Friday 6 September 2024.
