CPAS enables churches to help every person hear and discover the good news of Jesus

Your S.H.A.P.E. for ministry

How do you explore your vocation? Wondering if you've got what it takes? Could God be calling you to ordained ministry?

This free online tool helps you reflect on how God has shaped you, so you can work out whether or not your sense of calling is realistic, informed and obedient. S.H.A.P.E. stands for Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experience. By looking at these five areas, you can understand more about who you are, how God has made you and how he has used life to shape you.S.H.A.P.E. stories

You can also read stories of how some young clergy became clearer about their call to ordination.

The tool is intended to be a first step on a journey of exploration. It will help you think about which areas you most need to explore further and will suggest some helpful next steps.

  • First, use the tool to think about the areas you need to explore further, and reflect on the stories of other people's journeys.
  • Use the resource links in the report to explore the areas where you are less confident.
  • You can revisit these resource pages at any time using the links above.
  • Talk to your vicar or vocations advisers in your diocese about your sense of call.

This web tool will be developed over time, with regular new vocations stories and new resources on the 'exploring' pages. Do revisit this tool as you continue to explore your vocation. Please let us know of other resources in any of the S.H.A.P.E. areas, that you think people may find helpful.
