Vicar - St John's Leyland

Leyland | Blackburn | Closing date: 05 February

The Diocese of Blackburn and CPAS together with the Vicar of St Andrew’s Leyland invite applications for the post of Vicar at St John’s, Leyland

St John’s is a welcoming and friendly evangelical church in the north of Leyland, a town with excellent amenities and transport links in the heart of the Diocese of Blackburn, Lancashire. This is a full-time post for a single parish benefice, with a dedicated leadership team that includes licensed colleagues, lay and ordained. Prayer and biblical teaching are foundational to everything we do.

Our vision is to...

In our single, mutually supportive church family, we worship as three distinctive congregations (meeting at 10.30am and 4pm on a Sunday and 2pm on a Wednesday), which are united in purpose but serve the needs of people in different circumstances and age groups.

We are praying for a Vicar who is:

  • Deeply prayerful and led by the Holy Spirit
  • Faithful to Scripture and able to teach it clearly and engagingly
  • Relational and pastoral, valuing all people equally
  • Mission-focussed, with a heart for reaching the unreached
  • Empowering in leadership style

As we look forward to sharing in our diocesan centenary celebrations, ‘All for Jesus’, we are asking God to bring about growth in spiritual depth, in numbers and in service to our local community in this mixed socio-economic suburban setting.

Is God calling you to come and join us in pursuing this vision? We need someone to lead our willing team and congregations at this exciting time in our parish and diocese, as we discern together what God has for us in this next season.
